Album · 1978 · 40 Songs. 40 Greatest Hits Hank Williams. Listen on Apple Music.

40 ridiculously good 2 minute songs written between 1947-1952. On his way to perform in Ohio, sitting drunk and high in the backseat of a car, Williams heart stopped unbeknownst to his driver. He died in the backseat of that car in West Virginia on new years day 1953. Ramblin' Man is a 100. Several essential tracks on here. If you claim to like country music this is a must for your collection.

40 Greatest Hits is a two-record greatest hits compilation by American singer-songwriter Hank Williams It was released in 1978 by Mercury Records - who under PolyGram became responsible for the MGM tape vault - on the 25th year anniversary of Williams' death Significantly, it was the first anthology in quite some time that did not subject Williams' recordings to either rechanneled stereo, posthumous overdubs, artificial duets with family members like his son Hank Jr, or most or all of the above Because of both this, and the value-for-money attraction of having a deeper song selection. In 2003, the album was ranked number 94 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

Hank Williams' body of work is so large and has been repackaged so many times in so many forms that the notion of creating a definitive compilation almost seems like an impossible goal. However, as a one-stop shopping place for Hank's basic repertoire, 40 Greatest Hits is as good as it gets. While it doesn't include everything, practically every memorable hit is here, and thankfully every cut appears in its original form (that means in mono, with no string overdubs or artificial duets with his family members)

Legendary Country singer Hank Williams (1923 - 1953) lived a short and troubled life. But despite his short career, he scored many number 1 hits in the USA. Williams had ended 1952 as the best selling country music artist, but other than that he had not experienced the best of times that year. He saw himself divorced from his wife and fired from the Grand Ole Opry (for missing too many gigs), his backing band left him, and he more than ever fought his ongoing health issues with pills and booze.

I Saw The Ligot play 40 Greatest Hits is a two-record compilation that, true to the title, contains forty hit singles fromcountry music icon Hank Williams. It was released in 1978 by Mercury Records who underPolyGram became responsible for the MGM tape vault on the 25th year anniversary ofWilliams' death.
