Best album of the year.

Atmospheric Sludge Amenra. Album Name Mass V. Type Album. 版公司 Neurot Recordings.

The opener might be Mass V's greatest and most obvious perpetrator of the hero-worship that Amenra seem to enjoy lauding on the grandfathers of their sound, but traces of it are apparent throughout the entire album and throughout the band's career

Tuesday, 20 November 2012. Written by Ben Bland. Amenra have always been biblically huge in proportions, even if much of the world has yet to sit up and take notice. Mass V' may change that, however, as here Amenra are so colossal that they sound set to engulf the whole musical spectrum in their bleak embrace. Only four tracks long, 'Mass V' pushes Amenra’s music ever further into the depths and, as a result, becomes a record of gargantuan strength and intensity

With each new Mass, Amenra a new layer to their ever-evolving sound. Deeply rooted in hardcore / sludge, Amenra's approach to the genre has become increasingly atmospheric. They play monolithic, repetitive riffs that speak to the soul and exorcise it.I cannot emphasize enough how massive the whole thing sounds. The riffs are rather simple than technical, but convey a great deal of depth in emotions. Colin van Eeckhout excels at both tortured high pitch screams and clean singing that is reminiscent of Maynard James Keenan at his finest.
