We present to you Pitchfork's Top 50 Albums of 2012. As ever, both LPs and EPs are eligible. In certain circles, this album seemed destined for greatness before it was even committed to wax and has more than fulfilled the promise of the Arkansas outfit's 2009 demo. Sorrow and Extinction is moving and graceful and devastating. But what separates Pallbearer from the million and a half other doom bands is soul.

There are actually multiple versions of this release, here's what I have types out, maybe we can split them up. This is especially relevant for people paying $35 for a tape that might actually be one of the defective ones:When the band initially dubbed the tapes, the CD master that was used skipped during one of the songs. This skipping was then heard on the tape. There is nothing different about the aesthetic appearance of the tape or the art, the only difference is the audio that was dubbed onto the tape. The band could be contacted about the issue, and they sent new copies of the tape (without covers) to those who asked.
