The Clash is the debut studio album by English punk rock band the Clash. It was released on 8 April 1977 through CBS Records. Written and recorded over three weeks in February of 1977 for a paltry £4,000, it would go one to reach on the UK charts, and has been included on many retrospective rankings as one of the greatest punk albums of all time

A new version of The Clash's previous singles compilation The Singles or Singles Box, this compilation presents a stripped down view of the singles of The Clash's career, not including any of the B-sides incorporated into the release of the earlier collection and compiled onto a single disc. London Calling" (from London Calling). Rock the Casbah" (from Combat Rock). Should I Stay or Should I Go" (from Combat Rock).

The clash has produced many magnificent albums in the past such as their self titled, London Calling and Combat Rock. There is no doubt that they have made some truly memorable songs. The clash is not only a great punk band but they are possibly the greatest. As far as the album goes it is obvious that they have made too much great music to release anything less than 2 disks for an essential album. There is no doubt some of these songs you have heard such as Should I Stay or Should I Go or Police on my Back

The Essential Clash Tracklist. 1. White Riot Lyrics.

It fills in many of the gaps between those two records, while summarizing The Clash and London Calling well, providing a first-rate overview of the greatest punk band. It's not quite perfect, however: some great singles and B-sides fall through the cracks (notably "Gates of the West," "Jail Guitar Doors," "The Call Up," "Armagedion Time," "The Prisoner," "Protex Blue") and the Sandinista! selections feel nearly as haphazard as the album itself

This article presents the discography of the British punk rock band The Clash. The Clash's first official recording was the single for "White Riot", released by CBS Records in March 1977. In April, CBS released their self-titled debut album, The Clash, in the United Kingdom, but refused to release it in the United States, saying that the sound was not "radio friendly".
