The balance between the romantic and philosophical works nicely on this album, and both are also buttressed by a great deal of humor. Honey, Honey" carries the memorable line, "Honey, honey, I've got the hots for yo. Call it romance, set to a slow swinging tempo, with a little lust tossed in for good effect. Chukka Boots" carries the humor further left field, with the song's narrator falling for a woman because of the boots she wears

Ocracoke Island’s own Molasses Creek returns by popular demand. As phenomenal songwriters and interpreters of song, Molasses Creek concerts run the gamut from traditional to contemporary acoustic folk, from sweet ballads with ensnaring vocal harmonies to truly hot instrumentals. Molasses Creek is looking forward to welcoming in the New Year at our next concert appearance on Saturday, Jan 27 (7:30 PM) at Craven Community College's Lifetime Learning Series in New Bern, NC. Hosted by our good friend, Finley Woolston, this concert is a special opportunity to peek behind the curtain as we perform songs and answer your questions.

Molasses Creek hails from the Outer Banks of North Carolina on the picturesque island of Ocracoke. The origin of the band's name is simple for a visitor to Ocracoke Island to discern: Molasses Creek is the name of a small brook that runs across the island. Beginning with their 1993 self-released album Ocracoke Island, Molasses Creek has displayed their trademark close harmonies, fine songwriting, and ever-present sense of humor. 1994's Ocracoke Island II continued in the same fine vein. As good as these recordings are, Molasses Creek fans realize that it is necessary to catch a live show to fully appreciate their infectious sense of humor and love of performing. During the summer they present multiple shows each week at the Deepwater Theater on Ocracoke Island, where the band has also been instrumental in promoting other local talent, like.
