The "Alabama Song"-also known as "Moon of Alabama", "Moon over Alabama", and "Whisky Bar"-is an English version of a song written by Bertolt Brecht and translated from German by his close collaborator Elisabeth Hauptmann in 1925 and set to music by Kurt Weill for the 1927 play Little Mahagonny. It was reused for the 1930 opera Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny and has been notably covered by The Doors and David Bowie.

Before Alabama, bands were usually relegated to a supporting role in country music. Alabama was the group that made country bands popular again. Emerging in the late '70s, the band had roots in both country and rock; in fact, many of Alabama's musical concepts, particularly the idea of a performing band, owed more to rock and pop than hardcore country. Later in 1979, Alabama self-recorded and released an album, hiring an independent record promoter to help get radio play for the single "I Wanna Come Over. The band also sent hundreds of handwritten letters to program directors and DJs across the country. I Wanna Come Over" gained the attention of MDJ Records, a small label based in Dallas.

Alabama is an American country and Southern rock band formed in Fort Payne, Alabama, in 1969. The band was founded by Randy Owen (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) and his cousin Teddy Gentry (bass, backing vocals). They were soon joined by their other cousin, Jeff Cook (lead guitar, fiddle, and keyboards).

Alabama Live is the first live album by the American band Alabama. Their first live compilation, it was released in 1988 and was a Number One album on Top Country Albums. The album includes live renditions of various singles from the band's career, as well as the album tracks "Red River", "Fireworks" and "Gonna Have a Party". Also included is a cover of the Marshall Tucker Band's "Can't You See", which Alabama had never included on any of their studio albums. sales figures based on certification alone ^shipments figures based on certification alone.
