The Powers That B is the fourth studio album, and first double album, by experimental hip hop group Death Grips. The album's first disc, Niggas on the Moon, was released as a free digital download on June 8, 2014. The first disc's instrumentation was performed entirely on a Roland V-Drum kit by drummer Zach Hill and features chopped vocal samples of Icelandic singer-songwriter Björk on every track. The second half, Jenny Death, leaked online on March 19, 2015.

The Powers That B. Death Grips. Released March 31, 2015. The Powers That B Tracklist. 1. Up My Sleeves Lyrics. Prior to the release of either half, Death Grips announced their official breakup. By the time the full double album was publicized on March 31, 2015, it was assumed to be posthumous; The Powers That B was the group’s final album. Seven days before the album’s release, however, the band announced a North American tour, leaving many fans hopeful, though die-hard supporters were no strangers to Death Grips' past deceptions.

Jenny Death never gonna drop tbh. They’ll just sit on it. And it will hang over our heads forever like Death itself. He come to me with money in his hand He offered me, I didn’t ask him I wasn’t knocking someone’s door down, I was running from that When I got out, I was in that I was already through that, I had that I had the studio. I went to the studio I went to Fox studios. Checks the Death Grips Subreddit. oh well fuck me i thought that these were fan made holy shit im shitting my pants right now, still not 100% convinced since they ain’t that trusty but holy fuck im happy.

Complete your Death Grips collection. gatefold sucks balls, and the records dont sound that great, quite distorted. however, i'm almost 99% sure its my setup. Rispondi Avvertimi Helpful. All sides have surface noise, so its really messy imo. At the same time I feel it's the way Death Grips is supposed to be, so I can't really complain.

American band Death Grips has released six studio albums, one compilation album, three extended plays (EPs), one mixtape, seven singles, eight promotional singles, three remixes, and 47 music videos. The band was formed by MC Ride, Zach Hill, and Andy Morin in Sacramento, California during the winter of 2010. In March 2011, they released their eponymous debut EP. Their mixtape Exmilitary followed a month later and was praised by contemporary music critics.

This isn't a rare record at allIt's on back order on some websites and you can find it in record stores.
  • SoSok
Speaking as someone who has two copies (not looking to sell, don't ask), these prices are absolutely ridiculous. This album is in no way scarce, I got one sealed for $30 in a Newbury Comics last month. People charging this much are absolutely ruining this hobby and ought to be ashamed.
  • Heraly
Agreed. I've seen it at my local record store for $25 sealed.
  • invincible
Can someone sell this for cheaper please. This price is unreasonable and ridiculous.
  • Rleillin
Can one of you very kind people lower this to a reasonable price so i can buy it.
  • Road.to sliver
why aren't Runways W, H, E, N on here? I don't understand.
  • I_LOVE_228
this tracklisting sucks lolword word word word word word word
  • Dishadel
I was kind of disappointed with this copy, Side B for example is extremely quiet and not dynamic at all. All sides have surface noise, so its really messy imo. At the same time I feel it's the way Death Grips is supposed to be, so I can't really complain.
  • Anayalore
This is so great, I value this misprint so much... even greater than the Money Store misprint.

This is probably my least favourite Death Grips album. Though Niggas on the Moon by itself is quite strong, the second half Jenny Death, is in my opinion their least interesting stuff. It does have two standout tracks: 'Centuries of Damn' and 'On GP', but other than those I find myself revisiting part two the least. Part one on the other hand is some of their most uniquely experimental stuff. I love the use of Björk's vocals as a 'found sound' and Ride's lyrics on these tracks are some of my favourites. Particularly 'Black Quarterback' is a phenominal moment in lyricism. So while as a whole this album doesn't rank as high as their others, Niggas on the Moon alone is one of my favouite things they've done.
  • Domarivip
this is a great album, and it really fits the vinyl medium well, since on gp is a much better album closer than dg 2.0 imo
  • Wel
Anyone still waiting on this from Orm's Black Friday sale 2015?
  • Jaberini

(Quick Review #18)Listen: #1I enjoy Death Grips, and I enjoyed this double album. It's some fun ass experimental noisehop. While most people prefer Jenny Death, I actually found myself liking Niggas on The Moon a lot more. Both sides are good however. I can't really say too much about this album honestly, I enjoy Death Grips and this is a good Death Grips album. If you've heard anything by these guys you already know if you'll like it or not.Light 8
  • Breder
How do you even mess it up? Lmao.
  • Reddefender
"Brand new, never played. Not sealed in shrink." a mispressed record, for sale, never played....how?
  • Thabel
By checking the runout etchings, presumably.
  • The Apotheoses of Lacspor
masterpiece. even better than The Money Store.
  • RuTGamer
jenny death was never offered digitally by itself...
  • Rindyt
this is how the album was meant to be heard. thank you death grips
  • Obong
As has been mentioned by 'T.J.E.', the gatefold just barely fits the records and it's a chore to get them in and too easy to get them out, which is bizarre. Mine also doesn't close properly. Sounds amazing, however.
  • Bladebringer
Well the songs on the two discs sound great, but WHYYYYY is 2.0 not on here?? Played my copy for the first time today and was severely disappointed to not find one of my favorite tracks (on either half) not at the end. My only guess is that they couldn't fit it on the one JD disc and maintain sound quality, but my god don't sacrifice that track... I know there's no point in trying to figure out anything this band does, but why in the hell are these one album? The two halves have absolutely nothing to do with each other and with the delay of JD, what was the point? Make Jenny a separate album and give it two discs if you need to. I need the whole album, not the first 9!
  • Orevise
All right TJE, but your opinion about 2.0 is equally as subjective as my complaint about the albums being put together. It's a cool opinion on this reddit post, but there's nothing factual or straight from the band in here, and I still feel like they could have just been released at the same time and packaged separately so they could fit all the music, and the dichotomy he talks about would have been kept intact. For me 2.0 is the ultimate closer to the album, and quite essential to it. It's a dark, chaotic mess and sort of microcosm of the whole band to me. I don't want any tracks to be missing, but this one was such a statement to me. But yeah like we both said, no point in trying to make sense of anything they do. Every time I listen to this record I still want it to end in 2.0 though. I usually just cue it up on my computer :)
  • Moogura
DG 2.0 wouldn't fit. On GP is a much better closer though. And if you wanna know why the two are packaged together, there's a reddit thread detailing exactly that.http://www.reddit.com/r/deathgrips/comments/37ymn8/ideas_as_to_howwhy_the_two_sides_of_tptb_are_put/ this should answer that. It's Death Grips, nothing they do is "traditional." It's a double album because they feel like it is. Also, if they needed to sacrifice a track, which one would you say is best? DG 2.0 is a really anticlimactic and just unnecessary closing track, it has no lyrics, and the song right before it makes much more sense as the end of the album; taking out any other song would've ruined the flow, taking out DG 2.0 (while I miss the song) makes the album make more sense as an album.
  • Flamehammer
I wonder why they decided to use a plain white cover instead of the Marilyn Jenny death cover
  • Vobei
Apparently they weren't cleared on using the art from the copyright holder of the Marilyn Monroe art piece. Lame.
  • Watikalate
a proper call back to arms by the 'grips is this. as with every album been different (exmilitary- sample laden, TMS- electronic, Govt plates- quite psychadelic) Niggas on the moon is a manic kaleidoscope of Bjork samples backed by Ride's use of cryptic wordplay and imagery, a bit of middle of the road of album but still very nice. the powers that B is wonderful and shows a strong progression since niggas was released, since it has a addition of sludgy live guitar sound, which beefed out their sound by miles. i'm glad this was worth the wait, as i losing interest since i first heard "intimate sensation" (by the far the weakest track on either disc). salute grips, i hope there's a new release in the future
  • Shaktiktilar
I love this release. niggas on the moon sounds phenomenal. My only gripe is that the vinyl release doesn't contain the final track on Jenny Death, "DG 2.0"
  • Detenta
Fan-freaking-tastic pressing!!!
