Roger Taylor Solo Singles 2. The Cross Singles 1. The Cross Singles . The album cover was conceived by Roger and designed by Storm Thorgerson at Hipgnosis, the company that also designed artwork for artists such as Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, Genesis and Bad Company. Roger’s liner notes on the album include the line . There’s a lot of different things; some hard rock and roll, some softer more introspective stuff. It’s a good wide ranging album I think. It was an idea I had; a simple word play really.

Roger Meddows Taylor (born 26 July 1949) is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and t, best known as the drummer for the rock band Queen. As a drummer, Taylor was recognised early in his career for his unique sound. He was voted by radio listeners as the eighth-greatest drummer in classic rock music history in a poll conducted by Planet Rock in 2005.

This album was re-issued on CD on 5th May 1996, and again on CD and vinyl on 24th March 2015. There are some songs I should mention. Firstly Man On Fire and Strange Frontier, both best known Roger solo songs among Queen fans. Both sons were played live many times, even with The Cross (especially Man On Fire, which was even added as a B-side to New Dark Ages ). These are typical Taylor compositions. From what I know Taylor’s fans like Strange Frontier most. When he played the song live they were most happy. For me Man On Fire is greater

Roger Taylor was born in Kings Lynn, Norfolk, on July 26th 1949, Roger became fascinated with music in the early 50s, when his family moved to Cornwall. His solo album Fun In Space followed in 1981, and was succeeded by 1984's rock-based Strange Frontier. Both LPs reached the Top 30. In 1987 Roger formed his own band The Cross, in which after more than 20 years he finally resumed the role of lead singer. The Cross released three distinctive albums and toured extensively in the UK and Europe.

Before drumming with Queen, Roger Taylor was the drummer in the late-'60s hard rock band Smile, along with future Queen guitarist Brian May. In 1970, that group morphed into Queen with the addition of flamboyant lead singer Freddie Mercury. Over the next decade, Taylor would generally write one or . .A modest success, the album showed Taylor performing more straightforward and political rock music than Queen. He followed with 1984's Strange Frontier, which sounded similar to Bruce Springsteen's music of the same period. After Queen's Magic Tour in 1986, Taylor formed his own band, the Cross, for which he played guitar. The group released three albums between 1987 and 1991, but never received much interest in England. After Freddie Mercury died of AIDS in 1991, Taylor returned to a solo career, releasing Happiness? in 1994.

The album became Strange Frontier. The cover of the album is a 'pixelated' singing of his portrait photo that appeared in the liner notes of the Works album. The three singles from the album were the title track, "Beautiful Dreams" (in Portugal only) and "Man On Fire", the latter becoming a live favourite for him in later years. No attempts to promote the singles were made, Queen toured to promote 1984's The Works album, which made a Strange Frontier tour impossible, and Taylor didn't perform on any TV shows.
